‘Coldwater’ visits Detroit’s Love Building for food, film and convo
(Nov. 15, 2024) We’re deeply appreciative of the Detroit Justice Center, which hosted us at the Love Building for a standing-room-only event in Detroit’s Core City neighborhood. The evening included a meal catered by the film’s Chef Dink Dawson and his Green Mile Grille team, a screening of the documentary and a powerful conversation featuring reps from DJC, the ACLU of Michigan and the film team. ‘Coldwater Kitchen’ heads to New York for James Beard event
(June 2, 2024) What a day we had in New York City! The “Coldwater Kitchen” team dispatched to the Big Apple for an event in partnership with the James Beard Foundation and Philadelphia’s Down North Pizza. The Platform by JBF space at Pier 57 was the perfect spot for a clips-and-conversation screening that culminated with a fantastic meal prepared by “Coldwater Kitchen” chefs in collaboration with our friends from Down North Pizza and with support from the Michigan Justice Fund. ‘Coldwater Kitchen’ stars prepare meals for dinner-and-movie sellouts
(April 28-30, 2023) Three nights, three sellouts. That was the scene at Frame restaurant in Hazel Park, which hosted three dinner-and-movie events as part of the film’s home-state premiere weekend at Freep Film Festival. All of the events included a screening of “Coldwater Kitchen,” plus a four-course meal led by the documentary’s star, Chef Jimmy Lee Hill, and assisted by two of his students (Dink Dawson and Ernest Davis), whose stories are highlighted in the film. ‘Coldwater Kitchen’ gets home-state premiere at Detroit Institute of Arts
(April 26, 2023) The “Coldwater Kitchen” home-state premiere included a near-capacity crowd at the gorgeous Detroit Film Theatre at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Attendees were treated to a performance by the famed Detroit Youth Choir, along with an in-depth Q&A with community members and reps from the film team. A pre-film VIP party featured some of metro Detroit’s top chefs preparing appetizers inspired by the guys from the film. Photos by Junfu Han

(Nov. 16, 2022) After four years of work on the film, “Coldwater Kitchen” received its world premiere at the 2022 edition of DOC NYC, playing to a nearly sold-out crowd at the Cinepolis Chelsea. The film team and most of the on-screen participants made the trip to New York to commemorate the documentary’s arrival.
