Three nights, three sellouts.

That was the scene at Frame restaurant in Hazel Park, which hosted three dinner-and-movie events over the weekend as part of Freep Film Festival.

All of the events sold out. All of of them included a screening of “Coldwater Kitchen,” plus a four-course meal led by the documentary’s star, Chef Jimmy Lee Hill, and assisted by two of his students (Dink Dawson and Ernest Davis), whose stories are highlighted in the film. Dink Dawson’s daughter, Daquana, who is also featured in the movie, was part of the crew, too.

Co-directors Mark Kurlyandchik and Brian Kaufman even lent a hand in the kitchen.

The meal included bright quinoa salad with collards and lime-yogurt dressing, seared Thai scallops with sweet potato mash, Asian-glazed bone-in lamb chops with rice, and a decadent “Black Magic” cake.

Suffice to say, the attendees left full and happy. The standing ovations left us pretty sure of that.
